D.C. bar looks to cash in from Trump’s arraignment

A Capitol Hill bar and restaurant sold indictment-themed drinks in honor of former President Donald Trump’s federal arraignment happening down the road Thursday.

Trump pleaded not guilty on four felony counts for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Fight Club offered multiple specialty cocktails named “Mr. Smith Came to Washington”, “3rd times the CHARGE,” and “Co-Conspirator #1 R. Giuliani.” “If something happens, we try to adapt to it and at least bring a little levity to things,” said Mackenzie Conway, owner and bar manager of Fight Club. Conway said he enjoys using historical events in Washington, D.C., to bring more people to his business. “If we can foster an environment, a setting in which people can come in and express themselves to each other in a civil and fun way, I’d love that in my shop,” Conway said.

Other D.C. bars and restaurants also used arraignment day to offer deals to customers. The Midlands Beer Garden offered $5 Mermaid Pilsners all night, according to its Instagram page. Sticky Fingers Diner also advertised a $12 peach slushy and peach brown sugar cupcake combo, according to its Instagram page.
