D.C. candidate discusses running in ‘The Year of the Woman’

Check out D.C. State Board of Education candidate Emily Gasoi on the campaign trail.

Emily Gasoi is one of many women running for office in the 2018 midterm election. To learn more about her motivations for running, reporters William Taylor Potter and Ana Claudia Chacin followed Gasoi as she canvassed through the Adams Morgan neighborhood and visited an early voting facility to visit one of her volunteers, Nahanni Rous.

Callie Kozlak, a former Teach for America teacher, and Jason Andrean, a businessman who sits as the board chair at Achievement Preparatory Academy charter school, are challenging Gasoi to represent Ward 1 on the D.C. State Board of Education.
